What format should I use? The short answer is png or jpg. Do not use tiff or other format. And keep in mind that most images are best presented in landscape format (16: 9) in the app. If you upload images in other formats, the image will be cropped automatically and this may cut off heads or other important parts of your image.
It actually does not matter how big the file is (technically there is a limit of max 40MB to upload files to the system) - the system compresses the image to a suitable mobile size automatically. However, this does not apply to videos that should not be larger than 10MB. Read more about video further down on this page.
Under each image in a Location you can add a photographer text (or Copyright if needed). Enter the texts in the same order as the images. You can change the order of both images and captions by dragging them.
All audio files must be uploaded in standard mp3 audio format with a bit rate of 128 kbps. This is a standard format. Do not use wav or other audio format. It is easy to convert a sound from e.g. wav to mp3 - contact us if you need help with this. Keep audio files as small as possible with adequate sound quality.
Technically, there's no limit but we recommend between 30 seconds and 3 minutes to keep the listener awake. But it depends on the content of course.
Each stop in a guide can contain audio in any language. Make sure you have selected the correct language before uploading the audio file. Read more about languages here.
You can set the sound to start automatically when you enter the stop. Check the Auto Start box in the Audio tab.
The videos should be uploaded in mp4 format. Do not use other formats.
There are many sites for converting video. We recommend this one:

Keep videos as small as possible with adequate quality. A good size is between 3MB and 8MB depending on how long the video is. There are several free services online for compressing videos, or we can help you.
Technically, a video can be almost any length, but we recommend between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. A good story with good sound and picture quality is important. But keep in mind that the longer the video and the more videos you upload the longer it takes to download the guide.
To upload a file from your local hard drive - click on the plus (+) sign at the location where the image / movie / sound should be.
By default, the app downloads media (audio, videos and images) to the phone locally. This makes the content, once downloaded, accessible without a constant internet connection. Great if you do not have wifi everywhere, but sometimes, if you have a lot of heavy data such as many long videos this prolongs the download time. In those cases it is better to stream the videos. To make a file streamable you need to add _stream at the end of the file name.
Like these examples:
Bild_stream.jpg, or
sound stop1_stream.mp3, or
infofilmomguidevideo_stream.mp4
You can upload separate subtitle files for a video.
The format should be .vtt.
If you need to convert .srt to .vtt, you can use this converter:
https://atelier.u-sub.net/srt2vtt/
Go to the video in the media folder. Scroll down to TextTrack. Click the plus icon and upload your subtitle file as file type: TextTrack. Save.
Click the edit icon on your uploaded TextTrack. Select the type of text track in the field called Kind. Choose Subtitles for standard subtitles.
Select the language of the file in the field called srclang. Save.
Now, users can enable subtitles in the video player. If multiple languages are added, they will appear as options.
