QR codes are created easily and for free via online services. Search for "Create QR code" (an example of a service is https://www.qrcode-monkey.com ). A QR code can contain many characters (up to 7000 digits) and reading a code is very fast. The reading is also stable - for example, there may be some dirt on a QR code on an outdoor sign and it still works.
Usually a QR code contains a link (URL) to a website.
A QR code is a quick way to send visitors to the stores where they can download the app. However, the user must choose to install themselves - it is not possible to install an app on a phone without the user doing it himself.
We have developed a URL code that detects wether the user has an iPhone or an Android and sends him or her to the right store using just one QR code. Contact us if you want one and we will make it for you.
Below is an example of what such a Url looks like for the Platåbergen app. Using this url we then create a QR code. When the QR code is read, our server checks which operating system (iPhone or Android) reads the qr code and then directs it to the App Store or Google Play. If it is a device other than an iPhone or Andriod that reads the code, you are directed to "www.onspotstory.com".

It is possible to create direct links to a specific locations within a walk if you use the Web App. In future versions of the app (it is not possible in the current version) it will be possible to make a QR code that goes directly to a specific place if you have the app installed.
If you don't like the look of ordinary QR codes there are more options. You can design the QR codes with colors, images and shapes. Surf the net and test the different services.
Yes, we think QR codes have got a fresh start after Bankid started with QR codes and Apple introduced support for QR codes in its camera. It is a quick and easy way to reach websites. But people tend to want to know where the code will take them so make sure to have that information.
Can AR read a QR code: No and Yes. AR can find any image - it does not matter what the image looks like and a QR code is an image. AR can then "do something" after the image (QR code) is found. But AR can not read the content (eg the URL) of a QR code - but a QR code reader can.
